I play with a version of the Lakes script that I modified to take away the shrinkage the script normally enforces, because I like a really large map with a lot of land to spread out on. I'd be interested in other really large, mostly land map scripts that might be out there.
It finally dawned on me (who hasn't done any programming since Basic in high school in 1984) that since the script was putting in an alternative world size, I could probably delete that whole part of the script and it would instead use the default (larger) world size. Which worked!
Hi. I enjoy the Lakes map script but I find it too small. Can someone tell me specifically what I need to do to create a version of this script that will allow larger maps? I see the worldsize stuff on the map script but am not sure what/how I need to change. Your help would be greatly...
Frankly, it's hard for me to find a good thing to say about Civ 5. I haven't been pleased with Steam, I don't like the graphics, or how it handles graphics, it runs too slow (on a computer that runs civ 4 very fast), it doesn't have many options or as much replayability, too much that was good...
Good grief. Euro games had nothing to do with the demise of Avalon Hill. In fact, Euro games end up bringing people to board wargames. You need to know your gaming history.
At least playing against computer AI, I don't bother to upgrade garrison units except in a specific city that I think might be greatly threatened. It's too expensive.
I am getting a new toshiba netbook to use on the road. As is typical with netbooks, the computer itself has no inherent CD/DVD drive. When you have to use one, you can buy an external drive.
This currently poses a problem with Civ4. i'd like to load the game on my netbook, but the...
I am curious if anyone has tried a strategy where one engages in essentially no research at all (I could imagine exceptions for particular needed techs) but instead maxes out gold 100% all the time, buying/trading for all needed techs?
It seems to me that one could amass the amount of money...
I always play marathon games on huge maps. I usually subtract one or two AI opponents, so that the "exploration" phase is longer, but not always. I like it because it you don't get that jarring constant tech development; it also gives you some long term planning abilities. It does, however...
I hate to say it, but I will regenerate the map most of the time when it comes up with the Woods of Infinity start. The only exceptions are if the position is otherwise excellent. The reason is that, at least on the level I play at (currently prince), the all woods start really puts me in a...
If one of their cities is under "culture siege" and is "behind your lines," they may offer it to you (or each other, I think). In such circumstances, the city might be costing them more than it is worth.
