    Persistent advanced setup please...

Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but why every time i start an advanced setup game, i have to re-adjust the settings from scratch? Why no "set as default" button? Playing the steam version btw... Thanks

i was 12 when civ 1 came out.. i remember it to this day.. i cant remember a single week of civilian life (outside my military service) going by without a few hours as Caesar, Stalin or Hammurabi right after writing this i had an epiphnay: The Throne Room !!

    Jukebox

Thanks for all your replies 1. Using a player in the b/g (winamp, itunes, WMP etc.) means i have to alt-tab, which is quite a strain on my aging AMD 2600 (its a miracle the game works as it is) 2. Using a custom folder means succumbing to civ's DJ madness - switching songs on and off...

The key to winning on higher levels is...

    airship problem

well they have to re-fuel (re-helium??) pack up some more food and water, maybe a conjugal for the crew? besides they have to tell their commanders what they saw no? dont forget a turn is ~1yr. A luftwafa-indian-jones type blimp w/ attached mini-fighters would be nice though, flying recon...

    Lamest random event ever!

Lamest is having to build 9 (or 12 i forget) stables early on when you have 2 cities, no horses and all you care about is pumping out enough axemen to stop Caesar. :wallbash:

    Jukebox

Hey does anyone know of a way to play mp3 music in BTS? Choosing a folder from the Sound menu is unreliable at best, cutting the songs and not seeing subdirs etc... I wish you could setup a playlist or totally overlay w/ music. I used to play civ3 with winamp in the bg but now its just too...

If Israel were a civ, what would be its specifics?

I beg to differ, since the whole world was more then happy to make that connection very clear until the 1990's (lookup "go back to Palestine you dirty J--" circa 0AD-1948AD) Anyway, IMHO civs "deserving" to be in CIV are those that had a notable cultural impact on the rest of the world...

    Barbarian Cities Spawning Trigger?

Strange, I play Terra on Noble and the funnest part is getting to "America" first and plucking those ripe 5-6 barbarian cities just waiting for my "liberating forces" :D Theyre always there!!

    I still play at chieftain!!!!

What?!?!! and have no religion?? i usually rush for polytheism then rush for bronze and axe my neighbour (or sword him). i think a religion is an absolute necessity for balancing your budget, spying on other civs and for the civic bonuses. i forego all early wonders except oracle (for a bit...

    Is jungle good for anything?

i use jungles in the early game for scout cover, in the middle game for buffering from other civs (you can see stacks coming from miles away) and in the later game for plowing and making more city room. i kinda miss civ3's rubber resource, it should be a jungle bonus

What civilizations do you miss in BTS?

I've actually found the inclusion of Judaism as a religion (and for that matter all religions) a simplification and generalization that constitutes the single greatest historical flaw in the game. For example, it couldnt happen in the real world for Judaism to become the world's largest...

    Hebrew civilization

wait, i dont understand... theres posters here who say Israel had little or no effect on the world, yet there are almost 9 pages of posts about it (not counting the dozens of posts in other threads), and this "minor" civ of 7 million also makes every nightly news and the most widely read book...

Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword Expansion Pack Announced!

I would have to say that your point actually proves why Israel *is* a classic civ for civ and that is the continuity of the Israeli (or Jewish) people despite not having geographic borders. Only a people united by a sense of common ancestry, culture and shared memories (the definitions of...
