I personally use NotePad++ to edit it, then i use "save as" to save, remember to remove the Read-only checkbox in properties of the file itself...- razerdoh

Yes, goto documents/my games/beyond the Sword and edit the CivilizationIV.ini file, find AutoSaveInterval part, and set it to 1- razerdoh
