    Holy Crap! Spain!

It's good and bad. I like having the achievements, but unfortunately mods disable them. So, I have to choose. :( Thankfully, I got about 70ish and don't really see many more I'll try for, so it's back to mods. :) Just finished my Spain game. Ended up going for and getting a culture...

Thank you Catherine for 6000 gold

I love taking gold for multi-turn items right before I pounce. If I'm lucky, I'll soon get one of those big, fat peace deals shortly after. Take it, wait 10 turns and do it again. mmmmm Actually had one civ (Germany Bismark) give me 6 of his last 7 cities plus gold in pocket for 10 turns of...

    Stealth bombers do nothing?

I also expected a thread on how stealth bombers suck or something. I love them. Sucks for the AI when I manage to secure about 20-30 aluminum. :) Love my air force. Just wish it was easier to move, attack, etc. Sometimes it's a real chore, especially when attacking at max distance. Yawn.

    Holy Crap! Spain!

About to try my first game as Spain (need the achievement anyway). I'll try Lib/Piety/Comm too. I'll be sure to smash some cities with my golden cross while I'm at it. :)

    Why does everyone hate me?

Waste of time? Nooooo. I'm a warmonger by nature (98% of the time easily). I find great satisfaction in taking city by city. If the the Civ was talking crap, not trading, etc, I'll look for his worst city (like a 1-tile island) and let him keep it. Then I just sit on his borders the rest of...

about to finish my first civ 5 game

If you want to micromanage and get more detail from your games, Civ IV w/whatever mods is the way to go. Civ V is more simplified. I like them both as they both have their places. Just like when I wanted to play and finish Civ in an hour, I'd pop in Civ: Rev. I've dabbled at the top level...

    Opinions?

To me Civ V continues on the simplification of Civ that started with Civ: Rev on the consoles (albiet it's not quite that toned down). However, the graphical upgrades are newness make it a great play to me. Sure, Civ IV is better overall, but that doesn't mean Civ V is junk, especially since it...

    where are the bombers

Stealth bombers do re-base from one continent to another. But yes, regular ones have a limited range. Load em up on an aircraft carrier, bring the carrier close enough to the other continent to re-base and repeat. Honestly, I find air play to be tiresome when you have multiple units. Watching...

    Denounced on turn 2

I'd like to know the coding aspect, but a couple of thoughts: They had a warmonger personality and therefore assumed you did. They are programmed (or in that instance) to assume you/civs will be winning through war Civ V randomly selects a victory type the civ thinks you'll be trying for...

    Denounced on turn 2

This is simple. The keywords are: they believe. It's not, they know. Battles throughout time are fought over beliefs, whether factual or not. For example, if you're a true warmonger, you probably "believe" other nation's leaders are as well and it's get them before they get you time. If...

    Artillery can attack subs?

Wait til you see an aircraft carrier die to arrows. Really need a fix so certain units just can't do damage to others for realism's sake.

    Worst neighbor?

Worst neighbor? Simple. It's Gandhi. Why? No matter how peaceful I'm trying to be for various types of victory, that civ is always begging to be conquered. And I can never resist, which then leads me to cancel all my plans and go for domination. Thanks Gandhi.

    Upgrading your computer

Just built a new PC, so I'm ready to go. Using AMD 955 quad-core, 4 gigs g.skill ram, good HDD, Win7 64-bit, and HD 5770 1 gig. :) Can't imagine it needing more than what I've got. Hope not. :)
