    Insane Trait combos

A bad combo of traits is one that doesn't complement the strategy you are using. For example, let's say my three traits are arcane/summoner/charismatic. So I think to myself, "Wow! It's mage time, baby!" And I rush to KoTE and build mage guilds in preparation for my amazing, overpowered adepts...

    Suggestion: Remove chariots

The problem with removing chariots is that the mounted line is already weak. Taking away chariots and particularly war chariots makes the situation worse.

    The Momus Strategy

I haven't finished this scenario yet. The first run through I got killed, but the second time I went straight for Empyrean (I researched Trade, way of the wise, then honor) and used Radiant Guards to freeze the AI's invading stacks with blinding light. Then I researched Religious Law and built...

The Next Age: Rise of the Gregori

I would think it more likely that the Age of Rebirth ends due to conquest by the Infernals and Armageddon. An "age of enlightenment" would be a lot harder to achieve in a world like Erebus where there are tangible signs of the gods' existence.

    Auric Ascending

to me it looks like a small insect being devoured by a flying octopus whose body is hidden in the clouds

    Illians, snow, and hammers

maybe I missed it, but what's my incentive to build Temple of the Hand as Illians? just the combat bonus on ice? it seems like the economic penalties outweigh that benefit...

    Calling Col Oners...

Colonization had its fair share of problems. Like, the computer surrounding me with dragoons so I can't improve my tiles unless I declare war on them. I used to get so mad at it, I'd scream. C4C improved on a few of these issues. But in exchange, Firaxis decided for some reason to strip away...

    This is not a game...

But that's not completely missing the point and it's not a loophole: it's a bad design decision. In C4C the entire point is declaring independence ASAP; the game rewards nothing else. Picking the shortest possible route to get there actually is the point! And therein lies the entire problem. The...

    Kiss my ring

Pointing that at you would probably raise this game up from an E10+ rating...

    Long string of thoughts

Yep. C4C is an extremely focused game. Whereas the original Colonization game and Civ4 gave you some breathing room, C4C has none whatsoever. The goal is clearly defined and always visible. And, it is ready to kick you in the junk if you somehow lose sight of it. Some people like this kind of...

Beating the elves to FoL or the dwarves to RoK

It's possible to beat Khazad to RoK (not sure about elves and FoL but I would assume so). But it requires some luck and unless the Khazad are in a ridiculously bad starting spot or getting killed, you really have to use a great prophet to bulb Way of the Earthmother. Try to time it so that your...

    Acrobat/Sect of Flies

I have a question about it: Hellfire tiles, such as those created by the AC event, spawn Sect of Flies. If the Infernals are in the game, the Sect of Flies they spawn belong to the Infernal. But otherwise they are Barbarian units (I think... been a while since Hellfire occurred for me without...

Scions of Patria: Seeking ideas, feedback for undead civ module

If Infernals start near an evil civ they're almost self-sufficient: no war weariness, so just fight an endless war and keep farming the evil civs for free manes. Also Infernals can capture existing cities; when Scions capture existing cities the pop is dropped massively. I always find that my...

    I think that also.

Is the Nature/Archery tree too weak?

Well, bronze working is a very powerful tech early because it grants both axemen, ability to use bronze weapons promos on your warriors, and forest chopping. But, after that the economic advantage of the metal line drops off significantly. The recon path, on the other hand, leads to druids...
