Exactly. Install Firefox (or Opera if you prefer) and give it a whirl. It cant harm to try, and you can compare the performance/features on your own system. You add it as an extension if you want it.

Chatzilla is free (must install Mozilla firefox). Ive had a go with it but I know nowt about irc so i cant really comment on its effectiveness
