Yes, it takes a lot of planning, no you don't have to do it, but it sure is a hella lot of fun ... I did it today on my first game that i've ever beaten on warlord (please don't laugh okay?) The last remaining civ was the English. Plenty of ICBM's to take care of them, and my people hated them...

Hoplites are like a better spearman - which is a unit any and all civilization mass produces. They're streamline with the infantry so they're upgradable later on in the game. I've found them very useful.

I hate upgrading each individual unit, and the fact that only the infantry class is upgradeable through the entire game makes me not want to build archers, swordsmen and knights.

Probably something really low. I clear my toplist a lot.
