July Patch - Upcoming Changelog Discussion Thread

Are slightly shorter games at higher difficulties really a problem to focus at this particular moment?

    Authority Vs. Progress?

Yes, food will help with distress too

    City ranged attack!

Exactly, cities in Civ 6 have a ranged attack. The difference is that it requires a wall to be built. The encampment district does have a ranged attack, too

    Volunteer vassalage

I like the current mechanics, so I disagree with OP (just to be clear), but I have a question: how can I get some insight about the evaluation of a AI becoming a vassal? This logic has been changed recently? I had 2 games in a row (I think it was 9-15 version) where I had a feeling that it was...

Civilization VI or Civilization V with Vox Populi EUI

It's a tricky comparison. Civ V+VP have years of features and updates. My feeling is that Civ VI/R&F is in a better spot than Civ V/G&K, and that makes me really look forward to see what a VP-like mod for Civ VI would be like

Late Spring 2012 is too soon

I'm pretty sure Schaffer said that in theory there was a spot in Civ5 design that Religion could fit, but it couldn't be the same system of Civ4. They needed time and more work to come with a well-thought mechanic, and they decided to leave it aside at the time. And for the main topic, sure...

    Burning 1st game questions

If i remember correctly the RA cancel and completion animations are the same. The AI never cancelled a RA on me There are mods that replace the ranged promotions to melee promotions when you upgrade to rifleman

    Has embarkation ruined naval combat?

I don't think so. In fact I found that embarkation made naval combat more meanigful and challenging. A big fleet is now a must-have for naval invasions, no more stacking some destroyers and a battleship with tons of transports. I didn't experienced any bugs though, apart for some visual...

    aztec advantage: what's the point?

Aztec's UA is pretty good in the early stages, but the best part is that it's fun. I wish there was more UAs like that

    Culture victory boring..

Exactly Also the 1hex culture expansion is much more organic

    How to live in peace?

After a couple of peaceful games played (King and higher) I felt that you need a little more military than you needed in Civ4. It's harder to get away with a couple of past era units, eventually your neighbour will invade you because, well, they can. Also if you are agressive about getting...
