Raging barbarians in LoR & other first impressions..

Hi there, I´m just playing my first game of LoR so are obviously still trying to get used to the changes. Some things I do like - others I like a little bit less. What puzzeled me most was the "raging barbarian"-option. In BTS, I´m used to play on a large pangea with raging barbarians...

    Natives

Your statement regarding experience & promotion is probably 100% correct as that is how the game mechanics works. However, that was not my point really. My point was that I don´t want that a native tribe, who is my friend, suddenly just declares a full blown war against me to drive me out...

    Natives

of course, it is always possible that an A.I controlled european powers bribe a native tribe to war... :undecide:

    Natives

I´m also confused about native behaevior. In my last game I was not at bad terms with Logan - then suddenly he attacked me anyway. It seems to me that when it comes to diplomacy and declaration of war, native settlements are responding more civ-like than col-like (meaning their actions does...

    This is a flawed remake

If you had William Brewster, then you got a pack of free colonists rather than a pack of criminals, correct. You are quite correct regarding your statement about 95% of the map beeing unintresting and unused in the orginal. Then again this huge landmass provided a certain strategic...

    This is a flawed remake

Unless I remeber incorrectly, there was a nasty bug (or feature?) assosiated with the discovery of a "Fountain of youth". Yes - your dock was filled with immigrants - it was just that for each immigrant you picked, each spot in the immigrantion-queue was not filled with a random unit as usual...

some experts missisng in the map.

I´m by the way only playing my first game right now ... I have now explored the whole map and just like you, I´m unable to find a fur trapper settlement were this skill could be learned from. There seem to be no sugar planter either, altough there is almost no squares that produce sugar on my...

some experts missisng in the map.

Welll, at least It was possible to learn the "master fur trader"-profession from some indian settlements in the orginal col as well. Though, if I remeber correctly, it was only the more advanced tribes (like Aztecs & Incas) that occassinally offered this profession to be learned.
