Right, but once they're gone you could use any left over bombing runs on the fortress instead of wasting a turn bombing an undefended target. I think I'll try to see how bad I can mess up the AI by parachuting onto a mountain then choppering in workers to build a fortress:)
Also, can they only...
Curious why Civ2 is getting votes, what with one battle deciding the fate of an entire stack outside cities. I like Civ3 where having more than one defender isn't completely useless.
Yep, that's the one. Looking forward to seeing defensive bombard. Is it basically they get one free shot while the pike/infantry/mech inf. does the dirty work? It just occurred to me, are paratroopers good for taking out radar towers and airfields? Generally they'd be out of range of artillery 2...
I was reading the thread on Marines, and they mentioned other units being specialized. I understand what Marines are for, but what's the niche of say, paratroopers? I'm guessing it's to pillage roads off forest/mountain/etc. squares to block tanks?
Well, all the negative reviews I've read were about III, but none of the reviews I've read about II were exactly glowing either. I think one of them called it "more like a slight evolution than the next revolution", or something to that effect. Either way, it's definitely taken up the time I was...
I actually meant part one. I've read some negative reviews of 2, but really enjoying 1. I've noticed 2 patterns to games. 1. Computer gangs up on you, and 2. Coalition vs. coalition, where you actually have a lasting peace with at least one of the AIs. Civ2 ALWAYS turns into total war too early...
If only Civ2 had the level of depth in diplomacy and unit customization, or if this game had the ability to trick out planets like you do cities, that would be the perfect game.
One thing I've noticed is that even after you know the cease fire has ended, the enemies next attack is a "sneak attack". Why is that, and what's the exact mathematical benefit of a sneak attack?
