My guess would be that any patch released will not address this. The game says it requires hardwar T&L. The Intel processors do not support this. I think I read that some have reported that they have worked around it as the higher ones support software T&L, but I am not sure on that one...
I started up a third game and it is now crashing. Also, this third game has not made any new files in that temp folder. I guess they are used elsewhere. It must just have been coincidental that me moving those files out of the directory was done just before the game worked for a couple hours...
I got rid of the purple rectangle on the in game options menu. I put some files back in the temp directory.
civ4_title* (3 of them that started like this)
I noticed that this directory also contained one referring to Gandhi but none of the other leaders in the game. I was playing as...
Did you look at this screen again at the begining of your next turn? My guess is that you ended your turn as is. If you went first as player 1, the computer then got his turn, gaining enough population and land mass to put you below the bar for winning. Then you both went again, but after...
Okay, this worked for me.
I was getting crashes to destop on my second game. They were initially about 90 minutes apart. As I progressed they got closer together and more severe. The last few crashes were bringing the system to a blue screen or another type of freeze. I could play for...
Just an idea. It would be interesting to see what exactly is going on. If we can get 3 or 4 people (at least 2 with the crashing phenomenon and 1 or 2 that runs well) to upload games and try to play the other three. Maybe it is a corruption in the save method on some of our computers.
I put down farms for some fast inital growth. I then automated them and the first thing they did was tear them up. Even if the farm isn't ideal, the AI should see that there are unmodified tiles. Putting a cottage on a blank tile is way better than ripping up the farm for a cottage. After...
System is not overclocked. CPU temps are under 50C when it crashes with a 38C system temp. Also, my vid card is a basically underclocked (9800Pro but an XT GPU). I have the most current motherboard drivers. The game ran for 8 hours straight on the tutorial...accidentaly forgot it was on...
Gah it is getting much worse from my previous post.
I am at about 1900 AD and it crashes every couple turns. Very frustrating. When I started the game it crashed after an hour or so, each time the crashes got closer together. Now I cannot even get 10 minutes out of it. Also, I was getting...
I just got this. I am playing my second game. First being the tutorial. I am at about 1900 AD and it crashes every couple turns. Very frustrating. They seem to be getting worse. When I started the game it crashed after an hour or so, each time the crashes got closer together. Now I cannot...
When I first played the game, I ran the tutorial. I left the house (for a few minutes) and left the game on because of the auto victory bug. 4 hours later I came back. The game was still running and at full speed at that.
During my second game it crashes to desktop quite often. I would say...
Do you get black terrain or movie slowdowns, etc now? I am curious if all the problems were linked to the game having problems unpacking files while running.
Yeah. I think they said your card wouldn't work so that they could then just not support it. From their end, it is easier to not support a card, even one that will work. A crappy business practice but it has been done before. It would be best if system requirements just said these cards...
I have benn wondering this myself. None of the review sites have seen have talked about this problem. Everyone says the game is stable. I find it odd that all the review sites that install the game across the office don't discuss this. Even saying "We had some trouble with...but that was...
