If you're playing at monarch or below, you should just build more cottages (thats usually what people struggling with commerce on the lower levels have problems with). if you're playing on something higher, it gets more complicated.
Build more workers, and build more cottages. Those forested tiles that you're working in utrect could have 5 or 6 commerce by now! it's ridiculous to see cities working unimproved tiles at 1000ad... another thing i noticed is that rotterdam's fish isnt improved, and you're not building a work...
What? i dunno what difficulty you play on, but on immortal barb cities start with 3-4 archers... and the food is put towards hammers on the settler, so you really dont have to compensate that much.
Seriously? immortal AIs do NOT have scores under 300 at 600bc, theyre usually closer to 1000. I'm sure you're not lying though, you wouldn't do that. Why don't you do a demo game for the forums just to prove that you're better than all us plebes toiling away at emp/immortal.
Probably because you clicked the "start anywhere" option. The new world tends to be very forested and food-rich, while the old world has tons of desert, but tons of luxury resources.
