    Great Depression

are you automating your workers? they might be building railroads everywhere, and those cost 2gpt each.

    Unit Value

A size one city is 1000 people :/

    How to research faster.

If you're playing at monarch or below, you should just build more cottages (thats usually what people struggling with commerce on the lower levels have problems with). if you're playing on something higher, it gets more complicated.

    Getting past Noble

Build more workers, and build more cottages. Those forested tiles that you're working in utrect could have 5 or 6 commerce by now! it's ridiculous to see cities working unimproved tiles at 1000ad... another thing i noticed is that rotterdam's fish isnt improved, and you're not building a work...

Where to settle next and what overall strategy to follow in this game?

In most standard map scripts, you can't have desert in your original bfc.

Does the "2 tiles no barb spawn rule" not apply to workers?

What? i dunno what difficulty you play on, but on immortal barb cities start with 3-4 archers... and the food is put towards hammers on the settler, so you really dont have to compensate that much.

Why did you move before you settled? that corn is way better to have than an incense and a desert.

Does the "2 tiles no barb spawn rule" not apply to workers?

getting 5 or 6 axes is much more expensive than a settler.

2 tile rule doesnt apply to barb cities; they just have to be in the fog. that IS pretty unlucky though. edit: also, your tech rate hurts my soul.

    My tactics

Seriously? immortal AIs do NOT have scores under 300 at 600bc, theyre usually closer to 1000. I'm sure you're not lying though, you wouldn't do that. Why don't you do a demo game for the forums just to prove that you're better than all us plebes toiling away at emp/immortal.

    Really tring to like it

Improve your tiles with workers. it takes way less time to pump out settlers. also, until you know better, always make your first build a worker

    Question on per turn finances

He probably saw the +1 hammer on the towns and extrapolated the rest. Pretty clever.

    Best starting strategy

though in multiplayer you should go warrior first unless you know that they can't see your capital from outside your bfc.

    Easy Starters

I like willem for the early game... It's obvious why creative is good, and cheap libraries + financial means getting 200+ beakers by 1ad.

So, what random maps is everyone using?

Probably because you clicked the "start anywhere" option. The new world tends to be very forested and food-rich, while the old world has tons of desert, but tons of luxury resources.
