    boring early game

The early game is the best part. It's when you are planning your tech tree, and making very important decisions like: "what policies should I get" "where should I place these settlers" "what should I use my limited hammers on" "which AI should I attack first" You might need to up the...

    Cultural Victory Strategy Thread

This seems like a nice OP. Here are my opinions: I would say... anyone who has a defensive UU or UB, and a UA that helps the builder mentality. I enjoy India, Songhai is nice. Almost anyone can be used well for this though. You know this is one I would like to hear more about. I tend...

    POLL: strongest civ in civ5

I actually enjoy the +1 sight. It is subtle, but it is also universal. America only really shines when it has a lot of open space to expand into though, I think.

    POLL: strongest civ in civ5

This is very true as well, good point. Their UU and UB leave something lacking. And what is with the UB giving more of a bonus to whoever conquers you? It really seems like Egypt was designed to be an AI opponent. Almost like a glorified city-state.

    Size Matters

I've honestly found that going wide doesn't stop you from going tall, it just changes the growth curve. What I mean is... a "tall" empire will have a very linear growth curve, which means much more early growth than the "wide" empires. But a "wide" empire will have a more exponential growth...

Why there is at least 1 damage?

This I can definitely get behind. I am FOR the minimum damage rule. I think it might be a little bit stupid when it is Stealth Bomber vs. Warrior and all, but in general I am for it (as previously argued). HOWEVER - I can readily agree that 10% is quite a bit when the spread between eras...

    POLL: strongest civ in civ5

In my opinion Egypt's UA is really only beneficial in the early game. Here's why: Early on the wonder bonus (stacked with Aristocracy) is phenomenal. But depending on your victory condition, there are only a few wonders you actually NEED. It is nice to have Egypt and know you will pretty...

2 units per tile is amazing!

Perhaps off-topic, but the Great Merchant only needs to be inside the CS culture borders not the city itself.

    Are the Vikings Bugged?

I totally agree with you. But as it was the first game I ever played with them, and it was only Single Player, I purposefully chose the map to experiment with the UA. Do you think it would be better than Japan or Mongolia on a large continent or Pangea map?

    Are the Vikings Bugged?

I played a similar game last night, Small King Tiny Islands, my second city snagged 6 iron which promptly became 6 Berzerkers (in an Armory/Heroic Epic city), which soon thereafter became the catalyst that netted me 3 capitals before my enemies finally started resisting me. My score is...

Does anyone settle more than four cities?

With games like this, there are a couple of things I like to do (and Happiness is rarely a problem for me on Prince - sometimes on King). 1) Only settle 1 or 2 cities, it seems like you only had a Capital so thats good. 2) Focus on something that will slow down your growth once your...

What needs to be said, really? As long as CS aren't turned off, Siam is a freakin' monster. <-- There ya go, supported it.

prince or harder is not so fun because of money problems

Ah yes, I keep forgetting that it is such a big change from IV. I totally crashed a game back when V first came out trying to build roads to all my luxury resources. Just the most direct route to cities, using the least tiles of road/railroad. ie: efficient trade routes. But if you mouse...
