    Gotm 90

This will be the first GotM I'll play since # 81 which was my first after disscovering this site (and the file was lost after all what I read >_<). I played a lot of Civ II at that time. So much that it eventually became too much for me and I had to stop for a long time and take a break with...

Do you automate settlers? Why/why not/when?

No, never. I haven't even tried it once.

    Air Defence

Unlimited fuel for eney aircraft? I've seen their planes crash frequently. o_Ô Maybe a bug or something.

    Air Defence

If my memory serves me correctly, it quadruples the defence against rocket attacks (Cruise Missiles, Nuclear Missiles are immediately destroyed) in combination with a SAM Battery. Does not work against aircraft, e.g. defence against fighters and bombers is "only" doubled (with a SAM in the city...

    Air Defence

 If I have a Fighter deployed in a city getting attacked by enemy Fighters or Bombers, my own plane intercepts them. So it works here. Or do you mean that your unit stack in the city consists ONLY of Fighters?

    I have never seen this...

I've seen that here and there occassionally, but never knew what triggers the civil war (like mentioned above, you have to be the weaker nation or whatever). I once tried it against a friend in MGE. Took his unaware capital to quickly end our game and then... *dramatic drumroll*... nothing...

    Gotm 81

Thanks. Sounds very difficult with just one city, but so many players already played the game as OCC and still do (checked it in the Hall of Fame), so there must be something about it.

    Gotm 81

Speaking of the OCC: are there exact rules anywhere to be found for this type od playing the game? I once found a link, but he leads to a site that I'm not authorized to access.

    GOTM 80 Spoiler

Hmmmm... maybe I'm screwed too, it sounds as if winning by conquest was the only viable way for GotM 80. I just managed to stay alive and """won""" by retirement. :X

    Do you overlap your cities?

At first, I tried to avoid that to be able to max my cities out. Then I built cities near existing ones if there was a special resource. Now I even build them between my towns if there is enough room and only a few tiles overlap at all, like 3-4. Note that I talk about a "regular" playing style...

    GOTM 80 Spoiler

Yeah, I figured that out too and am trying it. Forget city growing at the beginning, just produce settlers to build as much cities as possible, until I reach my borders, be it a coastline or the cities of my neighbours. :) I may test out this "Infinite City Sleaze" in a regular game some day...

    Actual effect of railroads?

You're right, I mixed those two things up. I guess the downrounding is what always made me curious about if there is an effect at all. Thanks for the answer. :)

    Actual effect of railroads?

I'm unsure about this. It costs an unit 0 MP to move on them, yes. That is clear. But what about the economical effects? I read various descriptions about them, in forums, Civ II manuals, strategy guides etc. Most state that every square produces one additional shield after the city built...

    GOTM 80 Spoiler

Hmmm... it really looks as if I have to improve my strategy of playing a lot to catch up to the other gamers here. I was totally proud of myself as I was able to survive the game until 2020 A.D., despite the continuous attacks of all the AI Civs. I later learned about the MGE bug that turns all...

    Signature discussion II

I was seemingly not able to put any pictures in it, that's why I just messed around a bit with the Text-Editor.
