Having the same sort of issues. After I load up a game I immediately am sent to a Diplo screen. I can get out of the screen just fine, but all I get is the map without any HUD elements. I cannot click/hotkey anything and have to alt-f4 to get out.

If you're buying an Inquisitor in the city which was just converted, then it will be an Inquisitor for the new religion. You'll need to buy an Inquisitor in a city which still follows your desired religion.
I think you have it backwards. CiV makes worker micromanagement more necessary since a) you are forced to prioritize improvements instead of spamming stacks of workers which finish things instantly and b) when and where to build roads is now a major decision.
Turn 110ish. Have taken out Ethiopia and Byzatium with compound bows ad spearmen. Not having any iron for long-/swordsmen is annoying, but not crippling. Currently upgrading to pikemen and crossbows while rushing terbuchets to begin my conquest of India and Siam.

Quick question: if you start a game in an era later than Ancient, does the pace of the game change to compensate? I.e. will a standard-pace game starting in the Industrial era still take (roughly) 300 turns to complete, or will it only take 150?
