Maybe there hasn;t been a truly atheist society, however Communism is supposed to be Godless, eliminating religion as well as the family unit as a central focus of life. The focus is all on the community. Atheism could give bonuses to state ownership etc and other "communist" traits...

1 - I'm not a modder, but perhaps a simple color change or texture modification could be enough of a distinction between unit types, so this change might be more possible than something more outlandish.

Thanks in advance for taking on this workload, like the above poster my Civ4 playing is pretty much dependent on maps like the kind outlined in earlier posts.
There are of course much less reputable and quite illegal ways to get your hands on said software. I won't go into detail because, well, most forums don't allow discussion of it.
