I remember that! It was a ridiculous start with lots of wandering, right? only a minor food bonus, if I remember correctly? But after popping 2 settler I decided to play on... ;) Wish you the best of luck for this one!

I think that last sentence of CKS makes it clear for me: the game is too old, and the gamers are too few, to justify *any* additional effort by the staff.

VERY NICE!!! reminds me a lot of my "All Random"-series which I tried for the HoF. I know there is one awful jungle start lieing around somewhere for me to be continued... :butnottoday:

I think Ruin was making a joke.
Or is that just me? Bc that would be my kind of humour?
But then, is Quintillus responding because he did not understand it is? Or is that just humour so far beyond what I can grasp?
;)
Anyway, I really enjoy your posts!

Weeeelll... that would make me the wise guy, then.
I *am* a regular map maker of this game. And I care about mostly everything in my games and my maps. But please, really, really never assume anything like "he surely places our start position so it is somehow in the middle of the overview map...
I may have a totally wrong perception about this, but:
How does, especially in a handmade game, the "starting position in the far right of the map", give you any information about where to move? x-wrap is on, right? so all the landmass could still lie to THE EAST, or not?

I made the right decision for the starting moves.
But I immediately stopped playing this game, in protest against the overwhelming luck factor in this game. :nono:
I raised this issue before, and I will never be able so see the point in releasing such an XOTM game...

Piu is coming from somewhere else: the XOTM is not a normal single player game where exploration is just a fun factor at the start of each game. it can also be an early decisive parameter in the competition. this latter aspect definitely should be lowered with regard to the luck factor of where...
in our next meeting we could create an XOTM together, what do you think about that? ;)
(like, the many bonuses of your games and the rather... hm, meager starts that i produce, combined? :D)
