China destroyed the American civ in 4001BC. And that is what started China on its path to greatness?

This happened in a recent game: I was on my own continent and everyone else was on another - so I could not access them until Astronomy. By the time I got there, there were 2 civs wiped out and lots of cities had changed hands. It started with Portugal, Zulu, Songhai, Greece, Ottoman, Brazil...

I used Greece - seemed to fit their UA. Easily had all city-stated in my pocket fairly early in the game. Took a long time to get the UN to vote for leader.

A potentially stupid question: I decided to try to play this one - first time I've actually played one of the gauntlets. I don't have this map type. I do not have G&K, only BNW. Is that the reason?

Rome. Small World Map. I started in SE Asia. I've settled/conquered all of east asia, Indian subcontinent, extreme western Europe, western Australia, and moving toward the middle east.

I have interpreted the phrase "sued for peace" meaning the victor gave the conditions (sued) and the vanquished had no choice but to accept. Thinking of the verb in the legal sense. However, in the formal sense, you are more correct. :)

Time: Japan. I don't believe the island of Japan has been successfully invaded. (America sued for peace before the invasion of the homeland). Traditionally, modern Japan was founded in 660 BC. Domination: The Axis alliance I think came the closest. Paris, Berlin, Warsaw, Copenhagen...

So I haven't bought the game yet - I downloaded the demo to see how it would run. I'm not surprised it didn't run on my home system (it is 5 years old). I installed it on my work laptop - dell E6500. On the demo, it seems to run slowly. So does this mean it would be almost unplayablely...

Has there been any info released about system requirements for civ V? I couldn't find anything - so I thought I'd ask. If there is a thread already for this with the information, could it be stickied?

I won a cultural victory with the Vikings last time I played as them.. I studied history a bit and noticed how much they revered culture, so I thought it fit.

Would it be illegal to play OCC with no city razing turned on?

Definitely protective: I'm not going looking for a fight but I'm a good shot with a rifle so I get that first strike chance. If you leave me alone, your good. But don't come try to mess with me in my house. Second is Financial (probably). Not that a make lots of money, but I make the money...

And don't underestimate the +:) from the forge. You get access to forges and Gold/silver/gems earlier than access to plantations (and wine/HR many times). Whipping a forge will often net happiness even after the whip penalty.
