    Is Old World any fun?

There is a pretty good tutorial built into the game, but since the systems are quite complex it may take time to understand how they play together. All of this is a lot of information to take in in your first game. Besides, the tutorials may tell you how a certain system, character or resource...

Old World Quick Questions and answers (and FAQ)

Thanks! I'm glad to hear that leader assignment doesn't seem to affect fertility. While it might be realistic, it's kind of a bummer to weigh between having your leader lead the troops/govern a city with his/her great stats and having offspring. From a narrative perspective I like how this...

Old World Quick Questions and answers (and FAQ)

I've played two games so far, the first one as Rome and the other one as Greece. In both games I had issues with getting my leaders to produce heirs which led me to ponder if I'm doing something wrong. Despite getting married at the age of ~20, my heirs and their wives don't get any children...

Have you ever seen a succcesful Montazuma ?

I never saw a successful Monty in my games either. He usually gets taken down by a world vs. the Aztecs war by mid game. In fact this holds true with pretty much all the warmongering civs (Mongolia, the Huns) in my games. They start boldly ending up being hated by every civ and crushed by a war...

Where should I put my next city?

I started a deity Babylon game aiming for science victory. I'd also like some advice where to build my third city. I thought of the following locations but couldn't decide which I would use. 1) Jungle hills tile next to the sugar (south-east of Babylon) + New luxury resource nearby + Food...

Deity OCC Science Victory - G&K Strategy and Tips

I tried this strategy, playing Korea on standard pangaea map with 8 civs and with one city challenge. I followed this guide as carefully as I could, but yet it was Arabia who won science victory on turn 266 rather than me. Until he won, I had no idea which one of us would win as I also had 3 SS...

    I still founded a religion...

That's nice. I noticed that some of the AIs don't seem to pursue religion at all. I'm currently playing an emperor game as Austria where I found the first religion in the world like 150 turns before the 2nd religion was founded. Currently my religion has about 50 cities while the others have one...

    Anyone tried Bismarck lately?

In my games Germany has always been a medicore civ. The best civs are usually Spain, Denmark, Ethiopia, England, Carthage, Korea, Rome and the Huns. The worst civs (few cities, capital lost, wiped out) France, Persia, Japan, the Celts, the Inca and Greece. I don't know how the civs end up like...

It aint over til the fat lady sings..

An interesting read from an interesting game. It's amazing that you got this kind of experience on prince. I've never had as close victories on any difficulty levels. Prince, king and emperor always give me quite rough starts but by turn 200-300 I'm always the clear candidate for victory while...

    Should Netherland be buffed?

I answered that yes, they do need a buff. My reason for this is simply that my own playstyle doesn't really benefit from the UA at all and thus it would be just as good to have nothing as UA for me. Any change in the Dutch UA would be for the better in my case.

Most 'unique' civ of Gods and Kings

The Maya seem most unique for me due to the calendar. The least unique for me are the Huns since they even borrow their city names from others ;)

Your top 3 of "most fun to play" civs in G&K

    1) England. I love the longbowmen and the range upgrade which the units keep even after upgrading them. Also, the +2 movement on seas is lovely especially for the embarked units in the beginning of the games. 2) Japan. I like the UA, which gives a lot of trouble to the civs who I DoW. I also...

    Huge AI performance improvement SOLUTIONS

Why would the human player accept the offer then? If the AI has no units left and is basically defenceless, it does make sense for him to ask for peace at any costs. Then, if another civ declares war on the player, the AI should recognise this. If the other civ was strong, perhaps the AI...

When do you use the diplomatic marriage?

When playing as Austria, I've noticed that it would be interesting to know when people use the glorious UA. Do you do it as fast as possible? Do you delay it if you're low on happiness or if you need the bonus religion/culture/units/resource from the city state? Do you avoid doing it for other...

How do you spend your faith?

I spend my faith to get great people. At first I purchase great prophets, but later I'll also buy great scientists and possibly great engineers. The prophets simply become too expensive so I only buy them if I'm very low in happiness in the modern eras.
