Not a moment too soon - another couple days and I would have deleted my link to this forum and tossed the CD in a box somewhere... Seems to be working better now - like I was expecting it to work when I first bought it...

Yep - fixed.

Installed the patch and now I have no text whatsoever... How many lines down is "graphics options"?

I guess I have to change my answer now that the patch is finally out - if it works. Hope so, otherwise this CD gets tossed in the closet with all the other broken toys...

I think there are bigger problems than just a few graphics-card issues - late-game slowdown appears to be common on more than just "a few %" of users. And I don't see how you can blame that sort of broad-based problem simply on obscure hardware.

If they had a WORKING patch, it would have been released by now.

I miss being able to use extra settlers to increase the population of a new city. Caravans for wonder building (why was that concept removed? could have been more balanced, but history shows that empires often leveraged thier entire economy for building wonders).

Yeah, well they're not going to sell many expansions to anyone who is having problems with the original... Last time I preorder anything Firaxis or Take2 - wait for them to hit the bargain bin instead.
