Oh my, that is not what I meant. I meant to say that I can't crop the iconic bear because it look make the leaderhead look bad, because no one wants to see parts of a bear or just the word "California" out of "California Republic". I'm really sorry if you used up your time to make this.

Alright, I tried to reduce the original flag by moving the star to the left, and it did not look very well, mainly because the star would either be in an awkward position, or had to be cut off a bit. I also tried to reduce the overall size, as I thought that would help it, but unfortunately if...
