i can think of 2 arguments to support making this change in the code.
first being the fact that if the player is going to use the glitch. then its fair that the AI plays at the same standard.
the second is more to do with the fact that a settler represents 10k people when it founds a city.
if...
I am aware of some of the trade route bugs. But i dont use them often.
as far as "buggy games" i find col very acceptable. I mean, after playing Masters of Magic and Fallen Enchantress I guess a lot of stuff is perfectly acceptable :D
Ive recently started playing col again and this time i decided to spice up things a bit by changing the game balance slightly and give myself better chances of a high score by adapting the Names txt file
Im curious to know what other people have done to this file to enhance their experience of...
I know if you change the Names.txt file you can set any native nation to be of a different stage of advancement. but i never seen it happening throughout a playthough
As tristan mentioned. i have expeireinced aztecs selling horses and guns after a while of trade.
it would be really cool to...
ive recently got back into playing this game after a few of the most recent posts re-sparked the interest.
this time i decided to give myself a different type of challenge compared to my usual approach of "play chieftan and try to beat my previous high score"
ive decided to go for a 0%...
its hard to pick up civ1 these days, theres other alternatives (excluding the extra 5 iterations) that have similar (or even arguably better) mechanics with much more pleasing graphics and user interface where you can make plenty of asusmptions that are correct.
i suspect i would not have...
i was younger than 10 when my dad bought home that big box from microprose with a CD (imagine back then a CD!!!) with the word CIV in it.
i didnt know how to read back then and even if i did, there was no point on reading because the game was in a eird foreigh language
i remember that...
just a random thought.
was it that your first check for trade routes was while the city was in civil disorder and the second check after things settle ?
i wonder if the trade routes disapear while a city is in civil disorder. after all, when that happens all trade and production is supposed...
right clicking the selection will switch your production to auto, which can give you some buildings. the buildings that are selected in auto are slightly influenced by the city's production. i dont know details on that, but you can find them on the forum.
continents are one single landmass...
been done in the past. dont ask me for a link.
teoretically, if you get 2 setlers, you can get 2 cities in oposite directions given an extra 2-4 turns of moving around
but ive seen somwhere the logic to get the 2 setlers is based on your surroundings, meaning theres either more than 1 AI civ...
interesting though experiment.
my opinion/s as a non-expert player are
under the assumption you are willing to reload your game in order to be 100% sure you get a free city.
its unlikely you can beat the advantage of a second city in the 8-10th turn of the game. (unless original location is...
civil unrest in a republic/democracy can cause your city to switch to another civ, same happens to the AI if the city is under disorder for enough turns. i dont know if it can happen under other government types.
triremes sinking is a roll of the dice thing, i dont know about the AI ones. but...
if your playstyle on the game is not warfare based, i dont think that challenge will affect the normal "space race" approach much.
you can always create a city near the enemy town (inside their borders) use it as a fortification outpost (50% extre defence for units parked) while conquering or...
