War weariness only arises if your troops are killed outside your territory. There used to be an article in the War Academy here explaining exactly how much and for how long, but it seems to have disappeared. Anyway, fighting a purely defensive war won't cause any.
That said, deliberately...
One more thing about roads. It's a common beginner's mistake to build too many too soon. The top priority is using them to connect your cities to strategic resources (ie that let you build units: copper, horses, iron, ivory). Pretty soon you'll want to connect happiness resources (gold...
Reserved... also to repeat a suggestion from the Bullpen that this leader & map might be particularly suitable for an Always War game. I think it kind of is... the WB saves don't have that option pre-selected, but you can of course enable it via the Custom Scenario options.
PS this is my...
The Nobles' Club series started out as a way for Noble-level (and below) players to improve their game. Most of the original participants now play at much higher levels, so this has become a way for advanced players to help others learn to play better. You can play your own game at any level and...
Wheel it is then. Wouldn't know how to specify Always War in the save, so I won't try. I might put a couple of warmongers in the mix though. Watch this space.
That'd be a real shame. I've played them all, some many times, and they've improved both my skill and my enjoyment no end. I'd be happy to give mapmaking a go - presumably it just needs (a) a map saved in WorldBuilder which follows the principles you set out here; and (b) the manual WB save...
"Oh farmers, everything is worth what the expanding bureaucracy will pay for it"
(or at least it seems so over here in the European Union...)
"You must hammer your cattle with your eyes turned skyward"
(in tribute to what's got to be the best post in a classic funnies thread)
"Two cities have been formed by two loves: plastics and the flocks of thy sheep. You will lose them both."
"We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from banking establishments."
Civ simulates strategy, not tactics: you move your forces into position and leave the rest to the RNG. Of course if you line up x swordsmen and x riflemen on an open battlefield and let them slug it out, the riflemen will win. But that's at the tactical level, and armies can and do make dumb...
I agree with BlackArc that attacking Mansa now maybe isn't the most obvious priority. Sure, he's relatively weak but you don't need the land; you do need to sort out your core empire. Capturing his 2 cities would be a further drain on what's still a pretty fragile economy. That said...
