    Quick Questions and Answers

That makes sense. I know there are several I have never built, e.g., Armasail, Deep Memory, Human Hive, New Terran Myth, because I don't usually research the techs that enable them. I did a game to research all of the techs a couple years ago; I may need to go in that direction again.

Civ VII Post-mortem: Crafting a redemption arc

Please read the paragraph / section right before "Civ Soul". I see the element of "Stone Age to Space Age" from the 4X soul to be basically the same as "stand the test of time." Other 4X games have this element, not just the Civ franchise. Perhaps I misunderstood?

    Little questions & answers thread

I've assumed it lasts for the current age. The capital could move in the next age; the civ will change. But I don't have any source to cite.

"Hidden" combat odds in Civ III - Thoughts?

Civ4: I remember seeing those odds in Civ4 and enjoying them. It was especially relevant/important when using the "suicide catapult" tactic. Bring a lot of these and blast the enemy stack to inflict collateral damage. It was useful to know (before attacking) how likely they were to die and to...

    Quick Questions and Answers

I'm firing up a game as PAC to try to get one of my last Steam achievements: "Valley of the Time Tombs", building all of the base game wonders. Does anyone know details about this? Does it require building them all in a SINGLE game, or across multiple play-throughs? Over my various games, I've...

moving up from Chieftain to Warlord

This ^^^ In my first few games, I always felt I was at a disadvantage with the Inca and Maya as my neighbors... way too often. Please check for that option -- and turn it off -- when you start your next game.

I wonder if leader level achieved is a good reflection of their respective strengths ?

Agree with @Sagax , that the leader score in the first game with a leader is not a great reflection. Especially when many of these were my early games, still learning how to play. In each of the previous games, I've often leaned on the science/space victory -- dates all the way back to my Civ3...

Large and Huge Maps - Not Tested?

These 3 areas are pain points for me, even on "standard" maps. Railroads: I've been reduced to manually mousing over tiles between my settlements and reading the tooltip -- whether it says "road" or "railroad". A workaround I have been using for a while (to work around a bug that has been...

Modern civs in 1.2.3 a lot less warlike, or just me?

This has also been my experience. I delay choosing an ideology in most games as long as I can. This lets me choose my enemies. When I choose an ideology, I get declared on by civs/leaders that have chosen a different ideology. The relationship turns to hostile and war often follows. When I...

    Exploration Age help!

Once I can access open ocean and Distant Lands, I find myself spending mental energy "over there." I want to build my mental picture of what's over there, especially if I have chosen a Terra Incognita map. It's tempting to ignore what's happening in my own cities and towns, especially if I have...

Civ VII Post-mortem: Crafting a redemption arc

I also work in IT, with more than 25 years of experience. I understood the term of art, especially as it relates to the release/launch. Many times we've done such an analysis. Some companies call it a "retrospective," some call it a "lessons learned meeting", and sometimes a post mortem...

    Exploration Age help!

Although I have not yet tried a game at Deity, I have some things I have done at Sovreign that may be helpful. Consider relations with neighbors. If someone starts the Exploration Age hating me, it's probably because I am encroaching on their territory or have taken settlements from them. I...

Take-Two CEO Insists Projections for the 'Lifetime Value' of Civilization 7 Are 'Very Consistent With Our Initial Expectations for the Title'

I'm quietly impressed by the CEO's comments. Unlike the goofy tech CEO lampooned by these guys https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCchBatdUMZoMfJ3rIzgV84g (who are hilarious, in my opinion), I have to believe that the leaders at Firaxis and Take-Two had some sensible, candid meetings about the...

In my last two games, Napoleon had giant yields, similar to this. I wonder if there's a synergy that I'm overlooking? Why always him?

Alliances need to be fixed or modded

This description reminds me of how MPP (Mutual Protection Pacts) worked in Civ3. I might have an MPP with CivA, but it wouldn't be triggered until CivB actually attacked CivA inside their borders. If CivB was repelling CivA's invastion, and the war took place in CivB's territory, the MPP would...
