Is Civ 3 NOW worth trying?

I was great Civ 2 fan (I played everything/hardest level etc) and the very first day it was released I shelled out and tried Civ 3. I was completelly disappointed - it was full of bugs and game itself regressed not only below Civ 2 but also below Civ 1. I just gave up - what is the point? I...

    Game is completely screwed

Here is my experience. As you will see, SEX is involved! I edit a bit "scenario" file - so that I can play 256*256 map with 16 civs on diety. I start playing. It goes all ok. But soon it starts to take quite a lot of time between turns. Then it gets worse. Then it gets completly ****ING...

    Editor is still very usefull!!!

Also, logical incosistency that settlers cost 2 population points can found a city of pop 1 can be also rectified.

    Editor is still very usefull!!!

For stupid behaviour of untis (like warrior defending city against tank winning the battler) cure is (I guess) at "Combat Experience Page". Here you can change "base hit points" to make it more (un)realistic.

    Editor is still very usefull!!!

For extra fun, give settlers and similar units to barbarians - can we have barbarian cities, too?

    Editor is still very usefull!!!

Here is how - althrough you can't create scenarios, you can edit game rules so that you can customize it to your liking. Since, apparentlly, game rules are the same for computer and for human (ie what helps you helps them, too) this should NOT be considered "cheating" as such. Given how...

    Dificulty levels

It would be very good if someone could figure out how much is human/computer player favored/disfavored at different difficulty levels. It apears to me that at diety thay have at very least 2 times more pop growth, production and science - and do not forget that those thing tend to accumulated...

    Buying advances?

I think that few have realised how important is this question: Is it cheaper to develop or to buy advances?

Civ3 - DIETY WINNING, and few questions

I am also 99.99% sure that military win is impossible (at diety level) by 2050, when the "official" scoring ends. Especially with huge map, with a lot of land, 15 (or whatever is max no) of civilisations... no time, no way. But, even so, I do not care much about who build United Nations (Is...

    Buying advances?

Say that you have 30 tax, 10 spent on luxuries and other, that leaves net 20 to spend on science and/or treasury. For example: after 20 turns: 20*20 = 400 gold or 1 advace (let's assume) If instead you go to someone and offer, say, 200 gold for that advance - you have...

    Buying advances?

I would like to mention that I have opened a topic in strategy section of Civ3 forum - "Civ3 - Diety winning and few questions" (loose quote). If you have really good imput about winning on the hardest settings - it is the place to put it (or look for it)! What are your experiences with...

Civ3 - DIETY WINNING, and few questions

Since computer opponents have owerhemling superiority, there is not much hope of you building more than ONE wonder on diety level, and that one could prove impossible. However, I pays to try to put all your resources to build GREAT LIBARARY. With it, you can get for FREE (0% scince) all the...

Civ3 - DIETY WINNING, and few questions

I am not aware of any particular bugs in game. I tought that there where some, but they turend out to be intended game features.:D Well, of course, they will not be happy to see you winning - if they would, they might as well join your civilisation. Still, the main point is (deity level)...

Civ3 - DIETY WINNING, and few questions

I bought Civ 3 yesterday. I feel a bit cheated. It is obvious that Civ 3, as-is, ins't what it is supposed to be. So many good features that where present in Civ 2 are gone in Civ3!!!!! No scenarios, no fixed starting places for civilisations, no useful editor (there is nothing to be...
