I went with Warlord, as that is my usual starting level with each new Civ game. Still have not finnished all the CIV's in G&K(+DLC) yet at this level. But that might be due to my setting of all my games at marathon, and not being able to play 24/7.

I've recently run into sluggish performance with this game on my PC. It was running fine up until a week or so ago (DX9). Was there a recent patch/hotfix?
I always saw the SODs as targets for splash damage (from artillery and aircraft). At which point the AI performed terribly anyway. At least now the AI doesn't loose its entire army in one turn.
Basically you won't make mone on trade routes until a city is at least 5 population. Also, it is advisable when bulding a road, complete the trade route as soon as possible. Otherwise your loosing mony on the roads to nowhere.
I was continuing a rome game last night on warlord. I noted that one CIV, Korea is expanding as did the Arabians (on to my continent) which I promptly bought out and later razed to build a city in a better location. Wasn't happening pre-patch....
