BTW, there isn't more complicated (as a game, not rules) and superior game than chess (IMHO, of course).
I don't give up, I think that I can learn about(?) lost game as much (or even more) than about won games.

It is definitely (?) a strategy game (you have to plan advanced what to do, when, where and how (and specially WHY) etc etc). Trading is only part...
If you like to play a good strategy game with logistical angle, try Patrician III, one of my all-time favorite.
I don't play just anything else than panagea/huge which means 10 opponents. I don't either like war games and I have quite often (but not allways)...
1) quick save (Shift F5) before doing anything else
2) capture city
3) examine city
4) if you like to keep it, go on to...
There are enermous mount of possibilities to define and test different kind of strategies for different kind of games (=lot of parameters/options...
If I'll stay on settler, then I absolutely know my level...
