Some General Questions...
If the general consensus is "don't build every wonder in every city" then what is the alternative; Settlers, Workers, Military and nothing else?
In the current regent game I have going I'm the Celts and I have a core of about 8-10 cities. In those cities I have...
I replayed that map again, expanded better, expanded faster once my capital got rolling with an "almost" settler factory. put spearman out in my cities. Got pretty close to the same amount land area in less time and with less hassle even though I took baby steps out from each city built...
Ok, I've added the two saves to the original post. Feel free to play them up to 10 AD and repost your saves so I can compare ..hehe :)
At the very least, just take a look and critique it
Thanks!
It all makes sense I guess. I used to not have this problem because my old playstyle involved building AT least 2 spearmen in every city, always keeping them there for defense and building all improvements. When I decided to start learning how to actually Fight back against the AI I started...
I admit I have only moved up to playing at higher diff levels recently but still alot of games and I'd never seen it so blatantly before these past two games. They would be gracious one moment, then I'd see a guy move next to my undefended city, next turn they would declare war, next turn the...
Your saying they do "know" just simply based on the fact that the computer is running the game so the computer is gonna know everything that is going on? I always suspected as much but not knowing too much about statistics, formula's and game design in general, I figured it had to be more...
Well, I've been trading tech for tech because I cannot seem to get GPT deals to ever be accepted, no matter how many times I see it can be done on these boards, lol.
I will trade with them as many techs as I have, to give and sell to other civs.
I have cannot ever remember the computer...
Questions about the CIV AI...
Does the AI measure your military strength or weakness based on a combination of what he can see in the field and what he can gather from his embassy based on your capital alone or is the AI using "investigate city" to verify how many troops I have in each...
On an archipelago map where your relatively safe on your own starting landmass do most of you shoot straight for mapmaking and pump out settlers to get off that mass before the AI or do you take your chances with a few other techs in between and hope for the best?
Am I missing anything here. I wanna be sure I'm utilizing this strategy to the fullest. It doesn't take long for the outer city's to produce massive corruption and little else. What I've been experimenting with recently is something I've read about on the boards here but not in any great...
The name of the video was "Homage to the Jaguar Warrior" by Lathero(?)..done in camtasia and it was a few years ago, you and I are speaking of the same one microbe.
But now you have my curiousity peaked...it seems I had read his strategy all over this board many times before seeing it in...
It was a program named Camtasia for the recording part...its not free, just a 30 day free trial. Its awesome being able to go back and watch the game he recorded for tips :)
Thanks for the heads up on Fraps, that figures...
This was like an .AVI file and it showed everything real time, it wasn't edited other than to add music, it was 30 minutes worth of playing, from his start to sometime later after he'd gotten a little ways into the game. I will check tonight...
I can't remember who or what it was for but the video was about 31 minutes long and I was enthralled sitting there watching someone else's tactics and I wish that there were more out there rather than just looking at beginning and end save games :)
