Played til about 1500bc, monarch, events and huts off. I haven't won a game on monarch ever. Usually play with no barbarians and events/huts on but I figure since I can't win like that I might as well try to get used to the more common settings so I can do botm and stuff eventually.

The one that gets me the most is when I don't make it to the AP, and then 2 turns after an AI takes 2 cities from me someone tries to "End the war with Wizardhawk!" before I can retake my cities (usually when I have 10 units almost built to retake them). :mad:

Thanks for all the tips! I've considered doing worker first before when I get an especially nice capital area but always stop myself until it gets to pop 3 or 4 usually. I never knew that AI would actually give you things for free, i've never even bothered asking one of them for a tech...
