That's the one!! Thanks Chris :)
The thread actually has a number of posts from me in it... But I lost track of it and have since reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled Civ3.
I tried the search feature, but I still can't find it.
Once upon a time there was a great thread here that discussed the various setting that could be made in the .ini file. Anyone have a link to it?
Thanks!
Tapsel,
You're saying that with those 3 lines in that order the game came up in 1280x1024 mode, even though your desktop is at a resolution lower than that?
I can get it to work fine with any resolution up to where my desktop is set, but I don't believe it supports using resolutions higher...
This could be made a regular city structure that can be built in any city. It would reduce corruption along the lines of a police station.
Maybe make it require a police station to be built, and have the effect of "double the effectiveness of police stations".
Games (or other software) can run at resolutions higher than your desktop rez. They can't do it in the manner that Civ appears to be using where it is a basic "window", but with some coding changes it would certainly be possible. The question was just whether or not they had implemented...
Yep - my video card supports it no problem.
If I set my desktop to 1280x1024, Civ3 will run that way, but there doesn't seem to be any way to get the game to run in a higher resolution than your desktop.
Am I missing something?
I found I needed to keep track of what I was using to be able to keep everything working correctly through updates. So here's my version of "perfect" terrain:
The main things I notice different from a lot of other folks are the use of the Sn00py's TerrainX files (best irrigation I've seen...
Unfortunately, as with most opinions, not everyone will agree :)
Personally I have very few issues with Civ III, and therefore my #1 request for Civ IV would be to fix my personal #1 annoyance with Civ III:
Do something about diplomacy so that it is not carpal tunnel hell!

I always go Anarchy to Republic to Democracy, and I've never changed from Democracy in a decade or however long it has been since the original Civ (although I seem to remember going through Monarchy in the earlier Civs).
If War Weariness gets too bad, I make peace for a bit. Sometimes that...
I lost a recently captured city that wasn't on my border, despite rushing a couple improvements and having garrisoned troops, quite a while ago.
Since then I've tried to make sure that I don't stop wars until I've eliminated the other civ (flips never seem to happen during a war).
I never use conscription, but about once a game I manage to click it by accident, resulting in a useless 2 hp unit I disband and unhappy citizens.
I bet it would be possible to mod the science definitions so that it never becomes available? (It shows up with Nationalism I believe)
I'm...
