Player stats, sales, and reception speculation thread

I am surprised anyone that believes professional reviews are above board & honest. They never have been. Even going back to the 80's when magazine & paper reviews were king, most people knew that most were in the pockets of the big companies, & were marked up, whilst small independant producers...

Also Imperator Rome had massive time & resources ploughed into the game by Paradox, but still couldn't save it, even though the game was in a good condition in the end. I hardly think Take 2 is going to be as generous in either time or money. Having a disasterous opening is something any company...

Very amusing. I would be more interested in their predecessors like Civ 5, which currently has 17,788 players on Steam, which has got them in at 96 in the charts. Not bad for a 15 year old game. Numbers which this current version can only dream about. In comparison Civ 7 is battling it out in...

I think one of the main causes for this game being marked so low on Steam, is Steams fault regarding their refund policy. This I think is true of all games. All games nowadays are quite complicated, none more so than stategy games, & having two hours to play to make a decision is frankly...

It will need to drop into 3 figures before certain people on these boards admit the game is in trouble, & even then many will make convenient excuses. What cannot be ignored is that each day less & less people are talking about this game anywhere, except on boards like these. Although I don't...

I presume one of those two flops is Victoria 3. Yes it has underperformed & has low numbers playing, but isn't an AAA title like Civ 7 & has been around 21/2 years longer. Despite this, this failure has been fighting neck & neck with Civ 7 for the last few days, so what sort of flop does that...

Player stats, sales, and reception speculation thread

This is something I can't grasp. It is one thing releasing a shallow game that majority of the playerbase can't stand. It is quite another at the same time to release penny pinching DLC'S which should be in the released game, thus going out of the way to infuriate customers. These producers are...

I agree that his videos can be informative, but he has an annoying whiny voice which grates on you after awhile.

75% off Steam price, but is the base game enough?

I agree. Base game is excellant. I did buy the whole package as it was a very good deal.

At what difficulty level do you play Civ 7 (Poll)

This is one of my issues with the game, any long term playability. If these boards are a general consensus 80% are playing on the top 3 levels, with over a quarter on the highest level, If you are here now on a game barely out 2 months, where will you be in a years time. Leaving game I presume...

Is Civ VII most boring version?

So true. Civ 5 seems to have pulled away now, & is in the bottom end of the top 100 games played on Steam, whilst this game cannot even reach that. People keep going on about Civ 6 poor start but that was still in the mddle of the top 100 games when it was doing bad, this version is at a...

    I quit for now

You seem to have similar tastes to me in strategy. I too like EU & CK games, whereas I was reluctant to take to Imperator, which as you say was empty & a map painter at heart, as the main developer informed me. I never got it until alot later, & by then the game was much improved though as you...

    I quit for now

As I pointed out in another thread it is very similar to Imperator: Rome. That too was heavily slated upon release & numbers plunged. Paradox, to their credit put out many updates & money into the game to save it to no avail, though ironically changed it into a good game in the end...

    I quit for now

I understand you like the game as do others, but none of you can disguise the fact it is losing players massively since release, & are extremely low for a new Civiliization game. I personally can't see this game being saved, certainly not as a big player like Civ 6.

Anyone else more hyped for 4UC VP than civ 7 😅?

I cannot say I am looking forward to it, but am certain however it turns out it will be in a different league to Civ 7.
