I'm hardcore in the sense that I've been playing Civ since Civ II, and I regard it as the best game ever.
I can't really say CiV is a fantastic game, as I'm still learning it. I've played about 50 hours according to Steam (although idling some of that time), but that's not nearly enough to...
Well, the AI is there to provide a challenge for you. Since the dawn of Civ this has been accomplished in a very simplistic manner, with barely a hint of intelligence. It's all down to a formula, and part of the game is to figure out the variables and factors of this formula. As long as you...
I managed to get Alexander killed on a 99.4% battle :)
I frequently cry about losing 90% battles too... But one should read the probabilities right. 90% means you WILL lose 1 in 10 of such battles. And surely you have hundreds in the course of a single game. Therefore, it is not surprising at...
@Gunner: OMG! I was already playing 1.01 - hate to think how bad it was before :P
@jbfballrb: I was afraid of that. It seemed like the game was determined that the egyptian civilization should not survive into modern times as a significant power. One can argue for and against such a setup...
Does anybody else think the barbarians are overpowered?
I played Egypt on emperor level, and was rushed by camel archers around turn 130. I had axemen and chariots. And spearmen, of course... I could defend my cities with spearmen, but it would take unsupportable numbers to prevent pillaging...
1. If you reloaded the game with an assassin inside a city, you have to move it out and back in.
2. Very rarely, the assassins will just stop working without apparent reason. Save and reload, then see 1) :)
It is my impression that the vassal is allowed to occasionally refuse demands for resources. You can repeat the demand, though, even on the same turn, and if he keeps refusing it will eventualy lead to war.
This explanation should be written in huge red letters all over the granaries... I can't believe how long I've micromanaged my cities to get the granary before the pop grew... and I only just noticed that it didn't work as I thought :(
I had the same problem. It told me I had found treasure in western europe, but there was nothing to see on the map. I reloaded an autosave to make sure - the second time around the treasure was in southern Ireland, but definitely no visible cues.
I think I might have had a similar problem in...
Same here. I won the scenario, but never got a higher title than the second one. I think Alexander needs to level twice per title (or more). And mine kept dying all the time :p
I have seen this while playing the Total Realism mod. For reasons I can't quite determine now, I assumed at the time that an Assassin unit was involved.
