    checking map settings

Is there a way to check what map settings were used after the game has started? I thought i set highlands with raging barbs, but havent seen many so im worried i set it wrong...

    Mathematical Anomolies and Unit Promotions

I guess the implication is that city raider is a very overused promotion. Your only really getting city raider on macemen/swordsman/axemen and tanks. And most of the time when one of the ancient units is attacking a city, its facing off against a unit with extremely high bonus's (archers... or...

    Mathematical Anomolies and Unit Promotions

You'll find that promotions such as shock to be more valuable the more powerful the enemies base strength (before bonus's) is relative to yours. for example... elephant attacking maceman on a hill. you have combat 1. you can choose between combat 2 and shock. combat 2 elephant: 8 + 8*(.2)...

    Mathematical Anomolies and Unit Promotions

The trick here is that mounted units dont get bonus's when defending, so it goes to attacking spearman instead. However, if, for example, an axeman with city raider 3 was attacking a spearman in a city, i believe drewbledsoes rule applies.

    Mathematical Anomolies and Unit Promotions

Sort of. They end up being very similar, so its usually just better to get combat 2 because it's more diverse. The calculations come out like this. Elephant (8) 8 + 8*(.1 combat 1) = 8.8 vs spearman (4) 4 + 4*(1.0 vs mounted + .1 defending) = 8.4 If you take combat 2, your elephant...

    Mathematical Anomolies and Unit Promotions

Haha ya i missed that. Well, imagine that the archer has only been fortified for 3 turns so it evens out ;).

    Mathematical Anomolies and Unit Promotions

I've noticed some odd mathematical anomolies for certain units. Most notably, situations where the combat 1 promotion is actually better than the city raider promotion for attacking cities. This happens only in rare situations, specificall, when the attackers base str is drastically higher than...

    which uu are over powered

Like everyone else said - obviously praetoreans. Every time i play Rome i am so far ahead by 0 AD it's not even worth my time finishing the rest of the game. It's not like you need to rush strait for them either, you can take your sweet time developing your cities and then build them in mass...

    Best & Worst Civilizations

Best? Catherine and Huayna obviously. Followed closely by Gandhi and Mansa Musa, imo. Both have superb traits (I think Mansa have the best in the game, anyway). Combined with great starting techs and UU's, theres not much left to be desired... Worst? Hard to say, but I guess the choice is...

    C3C - Government Breakdown

I think fuedalism looks very good. It has forced labor, and benifites from small cities! This would be a VERY good govt for quick expantion through conquest and many other things. then i switch to fascism. :ar15:

A Possible Cue for Resource Discovery

i can add to that. look for the best defended, farthest away ai city. IT and IT alone will have recources one time i was playing on regent and was way ahead in the tech race. i had noticed in the middle ages, an oddly well defended area across the map. turns out there were 5 coals in that...
