AAA Mod 2016-10-05

This simple mod makes some changes I think transition and balance the mid and end-game a bit better.
UNITS:
-Destroyers Combat 20
-Ironclads Move 3
-Battleships Cost 380, available with assembly and combustion.
-Most ships after Destroyer Cost 50% more
-Aircraft costs doubled
-Nukes Cost 60% more
-Submarines can't see submarines
-Submarines available at electricity and combustion
-Destroyers Attack 50% bonus, Defend 20% bonus vs Subs
-Transports Defend Only (Galleons still can attack as normal)
-Battleships 40% intercept chance. Transports and carriers now 10% intercept chance.
BUILDINGS:
-Heroic Epic, Military Academy, Shipyard now all only give 25% construction bonus.
-Heroic Epic Now gives Leadership to all military units, and +1 Experience.
Other
-Oasis can be worked/settled
-Rice gives an extra food.
-Sheep +2 gold
-Portugues Caravels cargo now 1. Dutch galleons cargo now 3.
-Dutch levees now must also be built on fresh water.
-Chopping Jungle is now available with Bronze working.

Oh, and one more thing... research now takes more than twice as long :-)

To install just unzip into CivIV/BeyondTheSword/Mods, then start civ and choose the mod under Advanced options.

I felt the sudden emergence of destroyers with combat 30 was too dramatic, though perhaps realistic. Nukes also took over the end-game too much. I also felt aircraft were too overpowered for larger maps. Lastly I felt that the three military contruction bonus builings allowing 300% construction bonus was just way too much.

It is also a heck of a lot of fun playing with units that can start with leadership bonus.

------------------Axis&Allies Boardgame Sim Map----------------

I have also included a version of my Axis&Allies Boardgame Simulation Map, but if you want to play it I recomend following the link below to use the No Settler Version of this mod. The link is also an updated/improved version of the map in which Teams are allied, except for Russia.

The map is designed for multiplayer, and the players should agree not to make settlers.
It is 100x65 sized earth map, and each city represents a territory from the 2003 edition of the boardgame.
Units and industrial strengths of the territories are proportioned for the most part identically as they were on the boardgame.
I was surprised how well it transitioned as far as balance was concerned, though the allies still win more, but I suppose that is kind of inherrently unavoidable. However, a good axis team can still beat a competent allied team.
Perm alliances are disabled, so players research independantly (somewhat realistic and certainly in keeping with the spirit of the boardgame) If you enable perm alliances it will give allies a research advantage.
You could use quick or normal game speed, I have default set to epic, simply my preference.
I recommend medium or slow turn timer. Alternately, simultaneous turns can be disabled. The sequence of players is not the same as the boardgame but works very well here. Most important ship battles are 1 turn away, except in the mediterranean.
The first few turns can be the most critical.

Everyone asks where Italy is... Italy's military was just a footnote in WWII and was represented by the boardgame as a territory of Germany.

I have an updated version I use for mp games, that combines the unofficial 3.17 patch. I also allowed oasis to be worked/settles, and Rice gives an extra food.
