The genesis of the vehicle follows that of the 90/53 on the Lancia 3Ro . These two vehicles arise from the need of the Royal Army to provide anti-tank protection to motorized columns with a mobile platform for the 90/53 Mod. 1939 cannon, born as a heavy anti-aircraft weapon and which proved to be excellent for the fight against tanks. The Breda autocannon, presented in March 1941, takes up the solutions of the Lancia, which had instead been adopted in January of the same year. From 1941 to 1943, 96 examples were produced.
