Burma - Anawrahta Minsaw

Located in the northwest of Southeast Asia, Burma has a long and complex history - a land where magnificent and ancient Buddhist temples gaze out serenely over a nation that has seen centuries of both prosperity and turmoil. Under King Anawrahta, the regions constituting Burma were unified for the first time, laying the foundation for the ascent of Burmese language and culture, the spread of Burman ethnicity in Upper Burma, and the growth of Theravada Buddhism in Burma and in mainland Southeast Asia.
