Please first make sure that your Civ3 installation is patched to the latest patch!
For Vanilla, rename the "Civilization3" .exe file to Civilization3 No CD and copy it to the main "..\Civilization III Complete" folder. For Conquests, rename the "Civ3Conquests" .exe to "Civ3Conquests No CD" and copy it to the "Civilization III Complete\Conquests" folder. Then you would run those it instead of the regular exe files.
