  • Question:

I'm making my own sub-mod based on the official R:I mod. Started some years back, and now it's rather different from the newest ver.

I now know some other R:I players, would like to see, what I'm doing. I do not want to "pollute" the official R:I thread too much with my own changes, so a sub-folder under the "Civ4 - General Discussions" main-folder - would that fit?

Doesn't Realism: Invictus have its own subforum? Making a thread in there would be the most suitable, in my opinion. It would be courteous to ask Walter (right?) before, but not really necessary.

Hmmm. R:I has it's own sub-forum under Civ4 - Project and Mod Development, that is open :wow:. Actually I did make a thread of mine there a year ago. One I completely had forgot all about :hammer2:. That place must be one I should use.......

Seek and you shall find . Anyway - thanks J.

In case you think it will not get enough exposure there, then you can also make a thread for your modmod in the main Civ4 - Modpacks subforum, that is another option ;).
Do you know anyone on the Ashes of Erebus or Fall from Heaven modding team? (It's my favorite game.)

Sorry, no, I don't know anyone there (if you mean in person; I'd need to check who's actually on the team to see if I know them here). Why do you ask?
Ashes of Erebus mod is my favorite pack and I've been playing it for years. In fact I'm playing it at this moment. The game consistently drops when I play it, usually around turn 480. Are there any known fixes for this. Can you put me in touch with anyone who will help? I believe this applies to other CivIV games as well, maybe even the original.

I think this is mostly a performance issue. On my old PC I never could e.g. play huge maps, it would just get too slow. I don't think there's a generalizable solution to this, besides just getting a better PC, sadly :/.
Hiya, guy. I'm looking for a CivIV expert, and you are one, or maybe can connect me with the right one. The link to the modpack in CivFanatics is broken. I've given two disappointed folks the download for, but I really think it would be better if the link were fixed. Can you help, or point me to someone who will? I'd be very grateful. (part 1)

Anyone from the mod team, including myself, can fix download links. Please PM me, report the download, or reply here to get it fixed :).

What the heck was that about? None of my business, but I’m curious. Who are “they”?

I can't recall exactly, but I think it was a bot posting threads on the forum.. But doing it well enough to not be obviously posting spam links etc.

Yes, it was indeed about that. It's hard to catch them, and I think the large language models will make this even worse.
Did the forum just blip? I couldn't load anything for a few minutes and panicked!

Ah... yeah.... that could have been me, removing some ancient vbulletin leftover. I had the same issue. I had not expected anything strange would happen, but I guess I was wrong...
Have a nice day, The_J. I see you've been out of the civ4 waters for a while and maybe out of modding too. If you would be willing to help me out a little, please let me know. I won't burden you with a specific question for now. Have a nice day :) Hrochland
The_J, is there anyway you could create a python part that will give a free settler and some musketman to a civ that killed another specific civ?

Sorry, I'm not in the modding bussiness anymore :/

Could you please try to do a Python script similiar to the Militia one but that on the Fort improvement every 15 turns a militia of the current era appears?
Want to meet? I live close to Amsterdam and I feel a certain kinship whenever you are posting.
Ya know, I gotta ask you; did my brief appearance in the Civ 4 forums bring you over to OT? Cuz I don't recall seeing you around OT until I made a few posts in the Civ 4 subforums. :p
I don't understand what you're saying. Delete what? And it seems to have been done plenty of times already (probably a consequence of when I tried alter autosaving a few months ago).

I'll go post it in C&C now.
Nope! I see both ini and ini.bak, and I've edited ini.

Wait a second, it's not editing itself back, it's adding an entirely new duplicate of the code as it was originally on top of the already existing code. It's 42,000 lines long now, and just repeats itself like 10 times over. I was wondering why there were so many hits when I search for "fullscreen" but it seems that only the top one matters.
Sorry to bother you, but the T&S forum is too deserted to be much good these days. When I edit CivilizationIV.ini, nothing happens. It will save the file, but when I bring it back up it's as it was. I can't give myself more autosaves or put BTS in windowed mode temporarily to fix a really awful framerate bug.

I am an administrator and always choose "Run as administrator" when opening Notepad.
I take it that you officially admit that the art of baking as performed in Austria is superior to that practised in Germany.
