Today marks 20 years since the launch of Civilization IV, and what better way to celebrate than with a rebirth of one of its longest-running traditions — the Civ IV Hall of Fame!

The Hall of Fame first opened its doors in December 2005, just two months after Civ IV’s release. For nearly two decades it has tracked the best of the best: over 31,000 submissions from nearly 1,200 players, across 700+ Gauntlets and Challenges and a high score of over 11 million!

Earlier this year, an ageing codebase and an unexpected hosting change (don’t ask 😅) took the Hall temporarily offline. Since May, a small but determined team has been working behind the scenes to rebuild it from the ground up — modern, secure, and ready for the next 20 years!

Special thanks go to @DynamicSpirit for his critical work updating the savegame parser, and to the entire volunteer team who poured countless hours into bringing everything back to life.

After 20 years, the Civilization IV community remains as passionate and competitive as ever — and the Hall of Fame is proud to serve you once again.

Congrats on getting things up and running again! At least as far as Civ4 is concerned. And thank you to you and all the staff for your dedication through the years.

I've submitted a couple games, so we'll see how well the system's working. One of them was for the gauntlet that was running when the site went offline. I'm not sure if that gauntlet is defunct, will re-open, or will have a short submission window, but it's a good game even without the Gauntlet, so I wanted to submit it either way.

Yes I'll extend the gauntlet, probably to next month's update.

I'm aware of an issue whereby the files aren't being properly processed so you won't see your save details yet - but we have your entries and will get that fixed, no action required on your part.

I plan to do an update on Tuesday so if anyone has any more submissions and wants them in the October publication please get tthem in ASAP.

Yeah, I'm not expecting a seamless transition. I expect it will be some time before full functionality's restored, there's some obvious CSS work that needs to be done, and I expect there to be hiccups in early submissions.

The first game I submitted is a Time game where I was playing around with some different ideas. It's a Quick Ancient Emperor game that I'd tried a couple years ago and quit in 1934 when it looked like I wasn't going to be able to stop all the spaceships I needed to. When the site went down, it seemed like a natural thing to try again. I think it probably isn't relevant, but I have hundreds of saves for that game in case anything goes wrong in submission and they happen to be needed. Somehow, thankfully, I made it through hundreds of hours of gameplay with no crashes.

But it's good to have much of the site and functionality back up. Again, thanks to you and the team for your hard work, and as others have said, if there's anything i can do in addition to being patient . . .

Google blocked my Civ 4 email because they detected suspicious activity (registering on this forum and HoF). It seems unlikely that I will recover it. Any workaround?

looking good - well done to all!

It asked for user name and password / tried what I had but blocked. Requested a pw reset - no email.

Just submitted 5 games. I have more to submit but I will pause to see how these 5 shake out. Note that one (the TIME victory one) involved a system crash. I uploaded the pre-crash file and replayed the turn as required.
Feedback:
Interesting options with pivot tables and charts ... still got to work out what I can do with those.
I can't see a game submission number in the games submitted list. It might make it difficult to query a particular submission.
