I'm playing as England. When my caravel captured a city (belonging to Norway), it turned into a swordsman. Save file is attached.

Are you sure the caravel is gone? The new swordsman can be explained by Victoria's Rule Britannia trait, where you receive a free melee unit when you found or conquer a city on a continent other than your home continent.
