1.29 advances faster?

I've played two games with 1.29. It seemed to me that the AIs were getting Civ advances much more quickly than before. Anyone else experience this? Or am I just paranoid?

The tech rate has slowed down

Tech rate slowed for higher difficulty level. But faster for lower level. Or the tech rate is now similar for all levels, except for the trading part.
