How are you finding the new deity compared to the old one ?

Is it harder or easier ?
Is it more enjoyable ?
Does it provide a greater variety of playing styles ?
Does it take you longer to win ?
If so by what method ?

Post anything you want about the new deity !

It gets the big thumbs up from me

I think its actually quite feasible to do your own research.
I hated that advisor with passion, he knew the price but he
would never tell untill you guessed right

Im only on my first game but I think I can get rid of him for good
and thats a big plus for the enjoyment for me anyway.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I spend a lot of time guessing the price. I'm just starting a new Deity game with patch 1.29f. It seem to me that AI has raised the price of the tech in this patch. I used to be able to buy Philosophy for less than 100 golds; now, they are asking for my arms and legs plus 300 golds.:( However, they are all willing to trade resources with me. That's a big improvement over the previous patch. So far, I have three sources of spices and I'm able to trade with AIs for their luxuries.:)

I'm playing the tournament 2-1 game (deity, spaceship, standard) right now. It's 1500 AD and I haven't been able to buy any tech from the AI's. Resources and luxiouries are tradeable. I also noticed that research is much slower now. Playing with the patch is defenitly a handicap compared to the guys playing without the patch!

Yes, they are still doing that. However, since the techs cost a lot more now, you have to be a lot more powerful than they are in order to demand them techs in exchange for peace.

Yes, I have noticed that too. Their reasearch is much slower now. I'm playing the Deity level (huge map - 12 civs) and have no problem in catching with their techs which mean AIs would never have a chance to win the tech race at the Regent level.:)

The AI is reluctant to give techs in exchange for peace. In my game the Romans down to 7 cities would only give me 1 tech for peace.

I have about 70-80 cities and my Power is about 3 times that of the Romans. In the old deity I would have 3-4 techs plus gold

A new strategy needs to be developed somewhat :)

A quote from Soren Johnson (Firaxis)

They value techs higher so a pure research strategy should be
more viable
