256MB vs Dual 128MB SLI

Well, I need a new computer to play Civ IV so I'm building a new one. Can anyone tell me what the advantage of dual 128MB SLI graphics card has over a single 256MB? I understand SLI enables one to efficeintly join 2 cards.

advatage is that you can buy today one, tomorrow second one, or to put 2 256MB GF 7800GTX cards in SLI

card memory size doesn't have to do anything with its speed.

It depends on what card it is. A 256Mb GeForce 6800Gt would be better than two 128Mb 6600GTs but the two cards will be better than a lesser 256 card like a 9800Xt. Note that even though you have two cards it doesn't double the memory. So two 128Mb cards wont give you 256Mbs.

Right so a single 256MB 6800GT is cheaper and just as good as a dual 128MB 6600GT. Plus I could later join another 6800GT( and not be taking up expansion in my new computer)
