Sorry for the late post, I had some technical issues. I'll give you the low-tech report though. Something didn't want to do it's job correctly, so I had to smack it around abit.

Anyway, here are the 30 AD trades! (by Civilization again):

The Persians
Tradeable Goods:
Silks(2)
3 gold

Trades:
There silks and 3 gold for any of our techs [Literature, Currency, or The Republic] or 8 gpt.

Germany
Tradeable Goods:
66 gold

Trades:
66 gold for any of our techs [Code of Laws, Literature, Currency, or Monarchy]

Rome:
Tradeable Goods
161 gold

Trades:
6gpt and 161 gold for either of our techs [Engineering or The Republic]

France
Tradeable Goods:
46 gold

Trades:
4gpt and 46 gold for either of our techs [Engineering or The Republic]

-----------

Here's what I 'recommend,' we do the Persian, Rome, and French trade.

We give the Persians Literature in return for Silks and 3 gold.
We give Rome The Republic in return for 6gpt and 161 gold.
We give France The Republic in return for 4gpt and 46 gold.

This gives us the following:
New Luxery! Silks!
210 gold
10 gpt (which comes out as 200 gold total)

We lost the secrets of Literature to Persians (which every other nation on the continent already knows) and the secret of The Republic to the Romans and the French. Germany already knows The Republic, so we might as well trade it away while we can. Also, with some luck the switch to Republic will strengthen France and Rome, allowing us to progress faster.

Another option may be to sell Germany Monarchy for his gold just before we declare War (if that's what we are going to do) in the hope that he will revolt and be in a state of Anarchy when we attack. This will prevent the Germans from rushing defenders when we attack Berlin, plus give us his gold.

Didn't think about that possibility. It's a good idea overall, but I don't think it would work. Most AI's seem to prefer The Republic more than Monarchy, and I believe Germany has already switched to a Republic.

I like the recommendations of Minister Strider. I would caution, however, that as we trade Rome the secrets of Republic, the value the French place on it may drop. I would issue the instructions as requesting the best value possible from France.

Minister Strider I fully back your plan, but we should sell monarchy to germany
