Winning the Historical Way is a series of posts where I ask the community for help with some of the tougher UHVs (for me) anyway with the added caveat that it is EXTRA historical. What these means is that I achieve the UHV required while also trying to achieve these goals in descending order of importance:
Building all wonders historically built by the civilization I'm playing
Not building any wonders not historically built by it
Not Changing to civics that do not make historical sense (no Republic for China for example)
Settling or conquering all historical and contested areas
Avoiding settling or conquering all foreign areas
Scythia's goals are to:
Kill 10 Persian Units
Control 3% of the world's landmass
Completely control the Pontic Steppe
Killing 10 Persian units should be easy, theoretically. But your strongest unit, a replacement for the Horse Archer, is also needed to settle the Pontic Steppe and 3% of the world's landmass because they are the only unit capable of settling cities that you have as a nomadic civ. To make matters worse you can only build them in your core. Your Production for the Scythians is not good since you can't build any improvements so each unit counts.
You have a special ability though. Each time you build ANY Calvary unit, you get a free Unique Horse Archer unit. Although you can't build Horse archers outside of your core, you can build chariots, which will give you plenty of strong and fast horse archers to both settle the plains and kick the Persians butt. Take what you can from the cities, and destroy them if you wish, but don't keep them. Your goal is to kill Persians and you can't do that if they're dead.
In order to meet the requirements for the goals that don't directly involve killing Persians, you need to have lots of culture. That's why it's crucial to research literature so as to unlock the ability to convert commerce into culture. Once you've researched literature, put all of your commerce into culture. Don't worry about researching law: There isn't enough time to make the investment worth it. Finally don't bother with building Kurgans, the unique building. Getting the leadership promotion is cool but you just don't have the production to justify spending building it.
The mighty Scythian tribes, the eternal bane of the Persians, are the undisputed rulers of the steppes. Soon the Persians will be destroyed by invaders from the west. And these invaders may look upon Scythian lands with envy...
