I recently upgraded my laptop from 2GB of RAM to 3. I have 30 days to return the RAM stick to Best Buy should this not work, but I also have a full plate of other things to do at the moment (Possibly even the CIV IV GOTM :king:).

Is there anyway to tell if the 3GB enabler is working without getting into a big game?

What PrinceScamp said.

Do you want to be able to tell if the extra stick of RAM is working?

Well it would be easier to get into a big game. But you could also take out the old RAM and just leave the 1 gig of new RAM inside, and boot your computer up. If it cannot boot the RAM is bad.

Oh and now that I've bothered to type all that out, I'm almost certian there's some software out there to tell you if it's working or not, without taking your comp apart.

I suggest not doing the 3GB enabler. That option is wonky, unstable, at times buggy and can result in crashes, corruption and all other sorts of nasties. If you really need that extra RAM, get a 64-bit OS.

/3BG was meant for controlled environments where everything was compatible with the option. Windows itself should have no issues with it, but there may be drivers that do not work with it enabled, and same goes for some programs.

You don't even need to buy a new Windows. Just set up Ubuntu on your laptop (you can use Wubi to leave your Windows partition intact) and then run Railroads through Wine. It's got a gold rating, so it will work really well.
