Oh I know the difference, but the reality is both systems demand contribution of my time without my concent. It's my time/money and I should have the right to decide how it is spent.

The ideal is not the costriction of work, but the division of it. If the aim is social help, it's only a diverse use of the work. The greatest error on tell about communism is to considerate only the soviet reality, that not are the only possible. If Lenin not died so quickly, the thing could be been more different, I think... :(

You know, you say that Marx's theories have been proved false, but have you actually read Marx while considering the day and customs in which he wrote? If he were alive today, he would probably wonder why he'd been buried alive.

Err, that is, he'd probably be just as apalled as you at the antics of the USSR done in his name. Regarding western society, he'd probably look upon it and consider it proof that his theories were correct.

A thing is the theory, a thing is the practice. For western society, I think that you consider European one: if yes, I'm on your opinion. The "social capitalism" (economic freedom + welfare + some statal industry) used on Europe is the best lifestyle, I think. And more of its concepts are derived from Marxism.

Socialism does work really well in some societies, like in Cuba, Yugoslavia and the Paris Commune(1871). The problems it had in the USSR was that it was modelled after Stalin after Lenin died and remained so. Had Trotski taken power instead of Stalin, the USSR would be very different.

Anyone ever here of a small Asian country named China ?

IMHO China didn't have a good socialism. They're eliminating the economic part of a socialistic state, which is the most important part. A democraticly socialist nation would be OK, but a capitalist communist party is NOT. Not to mention China has, since Mao Tse-Tung died, pursued a rather strange foreign policy. Not only it almost had war with the USSR, but it also declared war on Vietnam for punishing it when the USA lost the war.
