When I've been playing for a long time, non-crash and when my computer freezes and I save the current Civ game that I'm on, my desktop switches to 4 bit color and 600x800.

I cannot change the settings back to what I use and I have to restart the computer to change to the regular settings I use. 1024x768 and 32 bit color.

Is this another problem due to the memory leak or is my video card coughing?

I'm using a Nvidia GeForce 5200.

If there is a similiar problem I'm sorry for reposting

I had a similar problem today after installing patch 1.09.
I played for about an hour, and when I quit my desktop switched to 800x600 4bit colour.
After I restarted everything went back to normal.
I couldn't try it again because I was already late for work :mischief:
I'm also using a GeForce 5200 with drivers 81.94

Using ATI x600 here and version 1.00 used to crash to a normal desktop.

Now, after 1.09, it crashes to this 800x600 desktop with the 4 colours (apparently - I thought it was 16, but 4 might very well be it. Anyway, it looks horrible). Have to restart the computer to get it right...

What are the resolution settings in your Civilization.ini files? I had a similar issue where the game would pop me back into 1024x768 (from 1400x1050). I didn't think that was a very polite thing to do. If the game needs a different resolution for itself, ok. But atleast switch me back to my own resolution when you're done! ATI 9000 here.

My native reso is 1680x1050 and I've set Civ to 1680x1050.

With 1.00, it lagged sometimes and sometimes crashed to desktop.

With 1.09, it lags a lot more and crashes often to desktop when I scroll the map... I haven't figured out specific situations when it crashes and reverts to 4-colour 800x600 screen yet...
