I'm guessing that Civ 4 will be 32-bit but does anyone know if a 64-bit version will be released?

I've been playing C3C under the "preview" version of Win XP-64 and the only problem I have encountered is that the 'generic' animations (a worker right after giving it an order to build irrigation, for example) are very slow.

Other than this, Civ 3 seems to run fine under Win XP-64.

The 32 bit version of the game runs perfectly fine for me in windows x64. I got no need to run a 64 bit version... although it would be nice, make the game 100% stable first and then worry about 64bit.

I don't think they will release a 64 bit version. Even windows longhorn (once it is released) should still support 32 bit programs.

I think they changed the name to Windows XP-64... guess there will never be a world without Windows again... :mischief:

There wouldn't be a point in releasing a 64-bit version of the game unless some operations were substantially more efficient with 64-bit instructions or the game needed more than 2GB of memory. I think the latter is not likely, because the vast majority of players will have less than that. I can't think of operations off the top of my head that would be faster with 64-bit, either.
