Welcome to game 161 in the 6OTM Series! These games will allow new and old GOTM fans to try out the new features in Civ6 in a friendly environment. Participants are encouraged to post questions, stories, advice, tricks and failures in the dedicated game threads (described below). Each game will specify the Civ you will play and the Victory Condition to strive for. We will be working to refine the 6otM concept as we move ahead with the series. Gifting of cities is an exploit in a religious VC as the AI cant see that it will lose if it accepts the cities.

Must Read!
We would like to ask you to abide by our most sacred rule: Don’t replay any turns! If you make a mistake, accept it and try to recover. To ensure fair play and prevent results exclusions, please set your Autosaves to 1 turn. In the event of a computer crash while playing, just reload to the previous save and play it as closely to how you played it the first time. Please let Leif know (via Conversation (Private Message)) if you experienced a crash and how many turns you replayed.

Instead use the next thread.

Opening Actions thread: This thread is used to discuss the game's opening decisions and strategies through the first 100 or so turns. Disaster 4 might indeed change the game ... or not. I don't have much experience with high disaster games. In fact it's been some time since i played a civ game (again) so Immortal will probably be a challenge but at least Mali is a strong civ.
Gonna scout SW with the warrior then decide between settling on the coast SW of settler if there's another desert to the SW of that spot or where the warrior starts. Coast would give more production and coastal boost while warrior would give more faith and food.

How is the 7 seas map? Is it something like the lakes with inland waters or something different? Don't think i've ever played on that map before.

Seven seas is a big map like lakes, just larger bodies of water, but still mostly connected land.

Ok so you convinced me to play a second game in a row.

Another insane start, although it kills me to settle on a removable feature.

I will say that it’s not possible to finish a diplomatic game faster than a culture game with the game settings. Disaster level 4 does not increase the rate at which they happen just the severity.

As is unless you get incredibly lucky the diplomatic points to win come around turn 210 in a deity game, that’s assuming you build all the wonders and get to the end of the culture tree. On immortal they will come 30ish turns later as the eras as longer.

A culture game on the other hand with this start is easy turn 170 without much effort.

I will say the coastal tile to the sw is the absolute strongest tile if you know how to utilize it. What is covered by the fog of war is irrelevant. I have yet to download the file but unless there is a wonder in the immediate vicinity the opportunities provided by that spot are unmatched.

I kills me to waste a tree chop by settling but it’s just too good
